- Plants in this genus are commonly known as 'violets'. While many species are found in North America, there are several species native to Hawaii, Australia and South America.

- Commonly called the “Trailing Violet”. This viola is native to Australia and has trailing stems with clumps of rounded leaves. Small, lovely violet-purple flowers held high above the foliage. Keep evenly moist. Prefers a cool, bright location. If the conditions are too hot, it will die back, but it will re-grow once the temperatures cool down.
